Peplink/Pepwave Compatibility Chart

Peplink MAX cellular routers, Peplink Balance multi-WAN routers and Surf SOHO routers all support cellular USB modems as another WAN path. This is done through an in-built USB port (or by Android tethering). This list contains the compatible 3G and 4G/LTE USB modems for Pepwave and Peplink routers. This Peplink/Pepwave compatibility is available for over 250 modems, over 100 cellular network carriers and in 50 countries.

What if My Modem is Not on the List?

If your modem is not on the list of compatible modems for Peplink routers, Peplink engineers will assist you by accessing your Peplink unit remotely. Follow these instructions to access Remote Assistance Service.

  1. Turn the unit’s power to ON.
  2. Keep the modem plugged into the router. This is the only modem that should be connected.
  3. Establish an internet connection via a wired Ethernet link to a WAN port.
  4. Turn on Remote Assistance.
  5. Configure your firewall (if in place) to allow the device to connect to the ra.peplink.com host.
  6. Submit a support ticket. It should include the following information:
    1. The serial number of your Peplink router.
    2. The name of your 3G/4G service provider.
    3. APN, username and password (if any).
    4. SIM PIN (if your SIM PIN is locked).

For more information, please visit the Peplink modem support assistance page.

For questions or more information about the compatibility of your modem to these Peplink and Pepwave routers, 5Gstore can help. Visit our Contact Us page for our phone number and our business hours. You may also contact us via email by filling out the contact request form provided. A team member will get back to you quickly.

WiFi-as-WAN Devices

The Pepwave Max, Surf SOHO, and Surf On-The-Go routers support "WiFi as WAN," meaning they are capable of connecting to an external WiFi hotspot as its source of internet connectivity. If you have a device that broadcasts WiFi - like the Verizon Jetpacks or a smartphone with the hotspot feature active (phones like the iPhone and many Droid devices have this option) - you can connect those routers to your hotspot/phone via WiFi as WAN. Your hotspot/phone will not tether directly to the router, but the router will pick up your device's WiFi signal and create a network from that. The Balance routers do NOT support this feature.

1 - These 3G/4G modems are supported; HOWEVER, you will need to manually switch between 3G and 4G (the router cannot auto-switch between 3G and 4G modes with these modems). For the Verizon UML290, you'll need to follow the instructions on this page to lock it to 3G.

2 - These hotspot devices will not tether directly to the router via USB, but you can connect this router to your hotspot/phone via WiFi as WAN. The router will pick up your device's WiFi signal and create a network from that (This is not supported on most Peplink Balance routers).

3 - Before using the AT&T Momentum in a router, it is recommended that you disable "modem shutdown" to minimize disconnects. Changing this setting first will allow the Momentum to connect each time without issue:

  1. In the Sierra Watcher software, click the "Menu" icon and select "Options".
  2. Click the "General" tab and select "Startup/Shutdown".
  3. Select "Do Nothing" from the "On Exit" drop-down menu and click "Apply", then "OK".

4 - The UML295 works with the Peplink Balance/Max routers for basic use, but full support is not available. We do not recommend using the UML295 with a Peplink router for remote applications because manual resets may be necessary.
