Here are some 'Frequently Asked Questions' about Verizon's mobile broadband service (and the answers)

Question: How fast is Verizon's service?
Answer: That will depend on what kind of coverage is available where you need it. Check the Verizon coverage map on 3Gstore's coverage tool to see what's available where you want service. EVDO Rev-A (3G) can provide average download speeds of 600Kbps-1,400Kbps (with bursts up to 2.0Mbps) and upload speeds of 500Kbps-800Kbps (with bursts up to 1.8Mbps). LTE (4G) is available in some areas of the country and can provide speeds up to 5-12Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up (4G service requires a 4G-capable device). There are no guarantees regarding speeds. Your speed will vary depending on both the quality of signal you receive at your device and the bandwidth/load at cell tower your device connects to.

Question: Is Verizon 3G or 4G service "Unlimited"?
Answer: While there are no data or time limitations to Verizon Wireless's 3G EVDO or 4G LTE service, Verizon Wireless does impose overage charges if you exceed your monthly allowance. For 3G-only USB and ExpressCards, the overage charge for the $59.99/mo 5GB plan is $.05/mb. For the 3G/4G and hotspot devices, the overage charge for the $50/mo 5GB and $80/mo 10GB plan is $10.00/GB (and keep in mind that the usage allowance on the 3G/4G plans is cumulative - in other words, you have 5GB or 10GB of TOTAL usage for 3G and 4G).

Question: What plans are available for the device I'm ordering?
Answer: The available plans for any device will be listed in the "select your plan" drop-down menu on the device's page on 3Gstore.com. 3G-only USB devices must choose the 5GB plan for $59.99/mo; 3G/4G and hotspot users can choose either the 5GB plan for $50/mo or the 10GB plan for $80/mo.

Question: What do the optional insurance plans cover?

  • WPP (wireless phone protection): Offers protection against lost, stolen, damaged (including water damage) devices:
    • $5.18/mo
    • $99 deductible with a $1500 claim limitation
    • Covers lost, stolen, or damaged (including water, physical, or accidental damage) devices
  • EW (extended warranty): Offers protection against manufacturing defects after the manufacturer's one year warranty has expired.
    • $1.99/mo
    • no deductible
    • Covers electrical or mechanical defects after the manufacturer's one-year warranty expires
  • TEC (total equipment coverage): Combines WPP and extended warranty.
    • $6.99/mo
    • $99 deductible with a $1500 claim limitation
    • Covers lost, stolen, or damaged (including water, physical, or accidental damage) devices
    • Includes extended warranty
Refurbished and "like new" devices are not eligible for Verizon's insurance options.

Question: Are there any other fees involved?
Answer: Verizon will charge a $35 activation fee for new lines of service or $30 for upgrades (activation fees appear on your first monthly bill). In addition to the monthly fee, there will be varying state and federal taxes, just as there are on your cell phone plan.

Question: Is there a "Free Trial Period"?
Answer: Verizon provides a 14 day trial for your service, but it's not "free" - if you cancel your service within the first 14 days, you will still receive a pro-rated bill for the partial month of service. Your activation fee will only be refunded if you cancel during the first 3 days.

Question: What is the Early Termination Fee (ETF) if I cancel before my contract is done?
Answer: Verizon's ETF for mobile broadband devices is $175 less $5 for each month that has been completed. If you have completed 7 months of your 24-month contract, your ETF would be $175 - $5 x 7 months completed = $140

Question: Does 3Gstore have a refund policy?
Answer: All items invoiced by 3Gstore.com such as amplifiers, repeaters, antennas and routers, fall under our 30 day return policy

Question: Why do I need to provide my social security number?
Answer: Verizon Wireless requires a credit check when setting up a new account or adding a line to an existing account. This is standard practice and all wireless providers require this. Should you decide not to provide this information, Verizon Wireless may require a large deposit to open your new account, as there will not be any reference for past credit history. Deposits depend on the customer's credit history and generally start at $100 per line which is typically returned by Verizon Wireless as a credit to account after one year of good payment history. Please note that omitting information can delay the processing of your order.

Question: What if I want to open a new Verizon business account?
Answer: In order to establish a Verizon business account, you will need to provide your tax ID and other information about your business. You do not need to provide your personal information (social security number, etc) for a business account. Please note that it is not unusual for a new business to require a deposit.

Question: How does the Verizon deposit work?
Answer: If Verizon requests a deposit to set up your account, 3Gstore will contact you before moving forward. Once you approve the deposit, the credit card you provided at the time of your order will be charged the full Verizon deposit amount. After one year of active service, you will receive your full deposit back in the form of credit to your Verizon Account.

Question: What will I be charged for today?
Answer: You will be charged for the Verizon Wireless device you select as well as any other items you add to your order, and shipping charges. Please note that the device itself may be billed separately by our Verizon Wireless fulfillment agent where noted.
