Follow up to my review on 12/04/2012.
Still does not work with my Verizon 4510L.
Have been working with 3GStore support who has been liaison for Pepwave.
We have tried many things and I have sent log files back from both the Pepwave and the 4510L. These have included changing both the Pepwave and the 4510L configurations in various ways.
As it stands right now 3GStore has said the Pepwave is taking over the support case but I haven't heard from them yet. I will probably have to call them. It has been over 30 days since purchase so I am also probably out my $100 too.
Bottom line: If it anything doesn't work within a week just return it. More than likely it isn't ever going to work properly.
3Gstore Comments:
George, don't agree with your bottom line comment - as we spend much time with every customer when there is a problem. I see that your return was approved AND you are getting your money back - as you tried working with us and obviously didn't work for you. I can tell you that there are many 4510L happy customers using the Surf OTG, sorry that it didn't work out for you.

Amazing little device! I was a bit worried that it would not work in an European Telecom environment, but no problem whatsoever. WiFi shows enourmous reception (it detects twice as many SSID's) and my (Dutch) T-Mobile Broadband stick connected without problems. At home the Pepwave Surf OTG connects to my UPC WiFi and the broadband USB acts as a backup. Later this year I use it on my boat alternating between harbour WiFi and Broadband on the water.
HOWEVER: a warning for European buyers:
$99 seams reasonable enough. By the time it is shipped you pay $148. 2 weeks after reception I got a FEDEX bill for (Dutch)VAT and importduties of €22. I am happy with the device but you pay a high price for it!!!

Trying to use it with a Verizon Wireless 4510L 4g hotspot.
When the Pepwave is connected to the 4510L for about a minute the 4510L starts disconnecting from the verizon network then reconnecting. Does this cycle repeatedly until the Pepwave is turned off and not connected to the 4510L.
Currently working with 3gStore tech support who is working with Pepwave support.
No resolution as of yet.

Easy set up for us non tech people. We use it to have wifi for all our computers with one sim card here in South Africa.

The Pepwave Surf On-The-Go 3G/4G Router w/ WiFi as WAN V2.0 worked very well right out of the box. Setup and instructions were easy and clear. We have a vacation home which will become our retirement home (full time) in a couple years when we'll get broadband service for internet/TV/VoIP, but until then need to have internet access on iPads, notebooks and netbooks via an alternate method. For ten days we accessed the internet on two iPads and a notebook using the Pepwave router and a Verizon USB 3G modem (UMW190) with no problem. In fact, when I've previously used the modem exclusively with a notebook using the VZAccess software interface the connection has dropped at least once a day (not sure if it somehow is programmed to disconnect after 24 hours or why that happens when you fire it up through the Verizon software app which isn't required by this router), but the modem never dropped the connection or required restarting once during the entire ten days. Didn't have to poke it back to life. :-) I purchased this router to replace an older Kyocera full size/non-travel router that worked with an older Verizon 3G modem but not the one I have now (the old router was able to be used with a USB modem, an express card or an aircard which was my original modem; that made it appealing five years ago - but not now that it doesn't work with the modem I have). Also the Pepwave is small and takes up little space, and we had no trouble with the signal from anywhere in our three story townhouse or on the outside decks by placing it centrally on the kitchen counter on the middle floor. Good purchase and worth the fair price!

This unit does exactly what I wanted it to do.. I live in a remote mountainous area more than 5 miles from the nearest Verizon tower (not line of sight). I put the CM288W 9.5" antenna atop a 20' pole, connected it directly to a Verizon 4G modem and plugged it into this unit. Four bars! Excellent 4G service.

I find the GUI (admin page) for this device to be very primitive especially as regards the so called 'profile system'. It always comes back up on profile 1 and if it doesn't connect to something in the profile you are trying to use, it will connect to something else if available, which is what I DON'T want it to do. That's the point of having a 'profile', isn't it?
Having the ability to use my VZ modem or outside wifi as WAN is great, but the implementation could be a LOT better. I keep hoping and checking for firmware updates... but nothing.

I ordered the PepWave SURF On-The-Go (SOTG) to use as a mobile router in an Airstream travel trailer and Bayliner cabin cruiser.
During initial testing, the PW-SOTG was connected to campground WiFi via "WiFi as WAN"; and it provided wireless Internet access to a laptop, Kindle Fire and several iPhones with only one log-on session, instead of having to change network settings on all devices. It was also successfully tested with the Verizon cellphone network by connecting the PW-SOTG via "WiFi as WAN" to a Novatel MiFi Hotspot.
PW-SOTG setup is simple and intuitive; and users with previous router experience should have no difficulty, even without reading the installation and setup instructions.
The PW-SOTG/MiFi combo was also tested as an Internet connection via LAN (CAT5) cable to a DLink home router, as the WAN replacement for a CenturyLink basic DSL line. The 4G connection was 1.5-2.0 times faster than the DSL line, which has since been disconnected and replaced by the PW-SOTG and MiFi. Now, the PW-SOTG/MiFi combo is the primary Internet connection for both our home network, and for mobile broadband use while traveling.
I am extremely satisfied with the PepWave SURF On-The-Go as a part of our home and mobile networks, and recommended it to other Airstream, RV and boat owners.

I'm returning this item. Could not connect to the internet. Tried a software patch for use with my specific usb modem and it fried both the sim card and modem itself. Now I have to pay a re-stocking fee.
3Gstore Comments:
There isn't any newer firmware available for the Surf OTG, so not sure what you are referring.... According to the order notes, you are upgrading to a MiFi and no longer have a use for the Surf OTG.
