I wasn't sure which product to use but the helpful staff at 3G found just what I needed. And it was not the most expensive product available. It worked right out of the box very simple!

The product is somewhat a function of the support you get. 3G made the product more than expected. Except for a couple issues the product is terrific and as I said the support is excellent! The expectation that fell a little short is when using wifi as wan from my marina, I was hoping to use my phone hot spot or carrier modem stick as backup should wifi as wan from the marina were to fail. This would be important when using security cameras on the boat and Marina wifi fails. 3G gave me a manual work around but not able to do automatic. The other is that if Wifi as wan is 2.4 ghz wifi to devices on the boat will be 2.4. Therefore if Wifi as Wan is 5 ghz all devices connection to SOHO must be able to support 5 ghz. This is my understanding and not a big negative, but if I am incorrect, let me know.
You are correct. This is because the Surf SOHO utilizes a single WiFi radio, meaning it uses the same antennas to both broadcast and receive WiFi. The same goes for the WiFi channel being used. When using WiFi as WAN, the router must either be using the same channel as the WiFi WAN source OR simply have its channel selection set to Auto.
Regarding the failover from WiFi WAN to another WiFi WAN source or a USB WAN source - you must set the Health Check on the router so that it knows when to fail over and when to fail back. We typically recommend the Ping method for this, which means the router will ping an address on the web to check Internet connectivity and once it fails so many times, it treats it as a failed connection.

The Surf SOHO arrive very fast from the 3GStore. I bought this to use with my RV and have been out yet, I was able to do a test setup in my home in about 20 minutes. I connect to home wifi and rebroadcasted internet connection to SOHO. I will update once I'm able to test at RV park.

I have several of these. Never had a problem. So much easier and more stable than Cradlepoint.

Generally happy with purchase. One antenna doesn't want to tighten up, i think something came loose inside. Happy with performance results

A+ English speaking tech support. Pre and post sale. Wish every company I dealt with had this kind of customer service. Probably would add a few extra years to my life not having to waste time dealing incompetent morons. 3g
please don't change anything.

Just received unit, downloaded the instruction manual. this is a little more complex than my old Linksys router, this is to be expected. I have to find out a lot of information that I did not write down when I set up the Linksys. I will have to go into it and get what information that I cannot get from my ISP.

The router does exactly what I needed. I tethered a hot spot to it and it provides WIFI throughout the house using my cell service (we don't have local internet) as the WAN. Great product.

Successfully using wifi-as-wan to enhance and secure campground wifi in my RV. It is great to just have one connection setup in my devices and only have to change the SOHO when we switch campgrounds or switch to our Mifi. Very pleased.
