The build & quality of this device is fine, BUT the firmware has a number of bizarre 'features' which really limit it's usefulness. Unlike most 'ping rebooters', there's no way to tell it what IP to ping, so it simply tries to connect to ''the internet'', but it's not possible to use it on any non-internet network. Also, if you need it to reset some equipment on the loss of connectivity to an Access Point, there is now way to tell it to ping that Access Point, only 'the internet' itself. Also, once the device is deployed in the field, there's no way to really log into it - it has a 'smart phone' application, so you need to have a Phone/Tablet to access it - and there's no Windows or Mac ability to log into it - totally bizarre limitations for a device like this. That all being said, if the limitations do still allow you to program this to fit into your network needs, they are built well and they work fine. I just wish that the programmers would actually have to use them, so that they would have programmed the features that people actually need. :) OH, also - I have to say that shipping/packaging/ordering - that all went really well. :) Nothing bad to say about the sales process at all, sales & shipping was excellent. :)
This particular model IP switch was designed to be controlled by an iPhone or Android App. The configuration is indeed "Fixed" in that you are unable to specify a ping target either internal or external (this is noted in the product description in bold red type). This product does require internet access in order to communicate with the "Cloud Enabled" services in which it provides.
It sounds like you may have just purchased the wrong item for your application/needs. Our Dual Outlet IP Switch model was designed for configuring ping targets that are internal IP's and specifying what to do when there is a loss of connectivity to an access point as you described - I recommend looking into that option and if you'd like to swap things out, call us for an RMA.
Both devices do have web-based GUI's that can easily be enabled to the outside for "Logging into" or managing from a distance. This does require an internet connection with a Static/Public IP address in order to properly configure port forwarding in the router connected to the switch.

These are great auto remote outlets. Only the English when the server can't respond needs improving.

My IP Power switch was shipped very quickly. The instructions included we clear and easy to follow. Testing the IP switch was easy. I just found the IP address of the unit and pointed my web browser to issue commands. For the price, I am very satisfied.

Good for rebooting a DSL / Cable gateway and that is about it, no way to control which IP/URL to monitor for auto restart, so your stuck with the default ip they used as a ping source. Unless you know your server or webcam is down and then do a manual reboot from the app it would be useless for monitoring them. For the lack of functions and a elementary school written web interface I think this switch is way over priced, for a few more dollars you can get the dual port switch that does everything this one does not.

The product works as advertised and so does the app for the iphone to manage it. Those of you who want to use it in a datacenter will appreciate that it can be used with 208V power (Belkin Wemo's can't), so this stands alone in that market space. Updating the firware is a breeze, very easy. That being said, there are some improvements that could be made. The pairing procedure with the iphone app is a little buggy, you may need to register your device more than once when you first set it up. A couple of my devices needed to be paired twice (even after updating the firmware). Also, if you have more than 5 devices, when you try to scroll down on the iphone app, it will "snap" back up to the top and you can't manage the units at the bottom. You just have to close and re-open the app and it will work again. The only other issue is that the unit itself is top heavy once you plug in a power cable at the top, so it can topple over. Not a big deal if you place it on the floor, but if you want to use it on a shelf or in a cabinet, a little sticky velcro can help. A wireless feature would be awesome in the future too to replace the RJ45 port for networking. Also, it would be fantastic to be able to see power stats (watts/amps/volts) from the unit. Overall, I would recommend this unit and would buy additional units in the future. I don't use the auto-ping feature, so I can't comment on it.

Great product at a good price. Very quick shipping. Wnet out same day even though it was past the cutoff time. The IP Switch is a great product. Have used the 2 outlet in past. Bought another and the new smaller 1 outlet switch. Already installed it at a customer that was having issues with a computer locking up. Works great and saves a trip there until I get to the bottom of the problem.

Remote power switch is a great device. Simple to setup and use, and a great, free phone app works well. 3gStore is one of my favorite places to shop.

The 3GStore sent my order promptly. The device I ordered needed a firmware upgrade to operate properly. The 3GStore tech assistant talked me through the upgrade and initial settings and the device now operates perfectly. The service was excellent and I would definitely order from them again.
