If your signal is extremely poor (-108db or worse), an amplifier may not be effective - there must be some usable signal available for the amplifier to boost. Conversely, if the signal is too STRONG at your location (-50db or better), the amplifier may shut down to avoid interference with the tower.

The Wilson Electronics DT™ cellular signal booster improves coverage – including 3G and 2G data downloads – for subscribers of all North American cellular networks. For specific information about frequency bands, see specifications. It is designed to amplify cellular signals for multiple rooms inside your home or office. The DT provides reliable voice and data coverage inside today’s energy efficient but cellular unfriendly buildings. The DT supports multiple simultaneous connections, and works with all cellular devices. Everything you need is in the box, so you can set it up yourself in minutes. As a result, you’ll see significantly fewer dropped calls and lost connections, faster data downloads, and a stronger, more reliable cell signal.

How it works: The outside antenna picks up the cellular signal and sends it through the first cable to the amplifier. The signal is then boosted and sent through the second cable to the inside antenna, which rebroadcasts the boosted signal. All of your modems/phones within range of the inside antenna can benefit from the boosted signal wirelessly.

*Many factors will influence the actual coverage area you will see from a repeater, including layout/floorplan, construction, and original un-amplified signal strength. Depending on your situation, you may see more or less coverage than the estimates listed here. It is not possible to guarantee coverage area.

Installation notes:

  • In order for your system to function properly, you must maintain adequate separation between the outside and inside antennas (if the antennas are too close together, there will be oscillation/feedback between the antennas and the amplifier will shut down). This amplifier requires approximately 30' of separation between the outside and inside antennas. Separation can be horizontal or vertical.
  • If you cannot achieve adequate separation to eliminate oscillation, you can turn down the gain on the amplifier, but that will result in a smaller coverage area from the amplifier.
  • The outdoor/window antenna must be aimed at the cell tower - if it is not aimed properly, it will not be effective. Line of sight is not required, but it does need to be aimed towards the tower.
  • Make sure the interior desktop antenna is aimed AWAY from the outside antenna.

Without the device, we had to press our cell phone against the window and not move it one millimeter to make a call. Now, we can use the phone in the house. However, the signal is only strong next to the repeater. You can text from further away, but not make a call.

OK here is the situation. I am providing a security setup for a newly purchased shop in a remote site south of Houston, Texas on the coast. The main problem/first of many that I was to solve was the fact that the client's cell phones had zero signal inside their new metal barn (that included a small apartment). I turned to 3G guru staff as I had done in prior situations. They were ;very helpful as I had already done a preliminary electronic signal strength survey. Using Google Maps I was able to determine the azimuth to the cell tower. The instructions were pretty straight forward: Don't have the repeater and the antenna pointing at each other and make sure there is plenty of separation. I placed the antenna under the three story metal roof using the I beams for support. The height and quality of the product along with the exact aim give he a very high signal strength as if I was under the tower! Client's happy. Great support on buying exactly what I needed. I would suggest that even if you know exactly what you want, have the 3G Store go over the application before you buy.
