Is the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini feature pack still required for WAN/Wi-Fi as WAN/SIM failover with firmware version 8.3.0?

If you have an active Primecare warranty and you are on firmware 8.3.0 or higher the feature pack is not required for those features. If you plan to not renew your Primecare warranty then the feature pack will be necessary to keep those features active.

Do you have CAD drawings of the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini?

Yes, they can be found on the Peplink Forums

Can you set bandwidth limitations with the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini?

Yes, Peplink offers QoS controls and multiple ways to adjust bandwidth usage, as well as monitor usage.

Do I have to buy PrimeCare with the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini now?

No, it is included with it now, but you don't have to renew the PrimeCare if you don't want to.

What is the CPU of the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini HW3?

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini HW3 CPU is 32bit.

How long do you hold the reset button in on the Peplink MAX BR1 mini to only reset the password and not the whole device?

10 - 15 seconds is recommended.

Can you limit the bandwidth used on a second WiFi SSID with the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini?

Yes, you could create a separate LAN for the secondary WiFi SSID, create a User Group QoS Rule that would assign that new LAN as Group "Guest", and then set the Bandwidth Control for the Guest group to the desired percentage.

How many SIM slots does the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini support?

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini supports 2x 4FF (nano) SIM card slots. They can be used one at a time, in a failover/ backup fashion.

Can the 2 SIM slots on the Peplink MAX BR1 be used at the same time?

No, they can only be used in a failover fashion. meaning only one will connect at a time. You need a unit with two or more modem modules in it (eg. BR2 Pro) in order to have 2 SIMs connected simultaneously.

Is the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini considered a hotspot?

No, this is a full functioning cellular router. It is much like a router you would use at home but with a cellular modem in it as the internet connection.

Does the Peplink BR1 Mini HW3 support WPA3 Personal for WiFi encryption?

Yes, with firmware version 8.1.0 and higher.

Can I set up the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini to use the strongest cellular signal available?

This model has 2 redundant SIM slots so it can connect to whichever SIM you list as the preferred, otherwise it defaults to SIM A first. This is the ONLY WAN connection that can failover based on signal. There is a section called "Signal Threshold Settings" and if the signal does not meet your threshold, it automatically disconnects and tries the next SIM.

Does the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini require a SIM card?

Yes, as this will only connect to a cellular network for Internet access out of the box. If another WAN source (ethernet or WiFi) is needed, the feature pack can be added to support those connections and then a SIM card would NOT be needed.

Is there a DC or GPIO cable available for the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini HW3?

Yes, see here: https://5gstore.com/product/10233_peplink_gpio_cable_for_max_br1_pro_5gltea_classic_minihw3_transit_minicorepropro_e_br2_pro.html

What cellular providers is the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Cat 7 compatible with?

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Cat 7 is compatible with all major US carriers. It can also work globally, as long as the supported cellular frequencies match what is being used by the carrier, it should work, though some carriers will not activate third party devices such as this.

What does Peplink PrimeCare do and why is it required?

See here for details about Primecare: https://www.peplink.com/support/peplink-primecare/ Even if you do not utilize the SpeedFusion/ FusionHub and InControl2 benefits, this still serves as the hardware warranty on the device.

How do the ports work on the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini HW3?

There are 2 ports labeled LAN and 1 port labeled WAN. All three work as LAN ports unless you purchase the feature package that enables the LAN/WAN port to be used for WAN.

Can both SIM card connections on the MAX BR1 Mini be used simultaneously?

No - this router has a single modem with redundant SIM slots. This means you can have two SIMs inserted, but only one will be active at a time. The second SIM can be used for backup, failover, etc (e.g. you can configure the router to prioritize one SIM and switch to the second one only if the first is unavailable, or to switch when a certain data cap is reached, or to switch if the signal is poor, etc)

Would I need to use 2x SureCall Yagi antennas with the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini, or just one?

Dual yagi setups are recommended and typically installed as shown here: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ogO6uGr5wJw/hqdefault.jpg

Does the MAX BR1 support bridge mode/ passthrough mode for WiFi WAN connections?

This does NOT support Bridge mode for WiFi WAN or any WAN connection.

What's the approximate SQ footage that the Pepwave/ Peplink MAX BR1 Mini will cover?

It will cover about 150-200ft through walls, much greater unobstructed (variable depending on interference from other electronics and physical interference such as walls and ceilings)

What is the temperature range of the Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini HW2/ 3?

The Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini HW2 and HW3 are rated between -40° - 149°F.

Does the Peplink Max BR1 mini come with antennas?

Yes, cellular, WiFi, and GPS antennas are included.

Can the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini GPS coordinates be accessed or broadcast to custom software?

Aside from InControl 2, there are 3 other ways to view GOS data - via the web admin page, downloading GPX files, or by exporting the data. See more on this Peplink knowledgebase article: https://forum.peplink.com/t/accessing-gps-info-from-pepwave-max-routers/8262

Will my iPad SIM card work in the Peplink MAX BR1 router?

It may, but the cellular provider might not allow it. We suggest checking with them first.

Will the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini work in Europe?

Yes, the BR1 Mini with a Cat 6 or Cat 7 LTE modem can be used in Europe. Make sure your carrier is covered by looking at the supported bands on the product details page. There is an accessories tab on the product page that shows you compatible options, including a 12v adapter.

Does the Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini work with T-Mobile network?

Yes, this will work with the major US carriers.

Can the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini give me an open NAT on Xbox Live?

Our team has not personally tested this with Xbox Live, but we have tested a few cellular routers with gaming consoles. In our personal experience, as well as working with customers, we've found NAT types to be rather hit or miss. In most cases, the best NAT type you can get over a cellular Internet connection is a moderate NAT type 2. However, we have seen an Open NAT in some cases. We recommend following the steps on our gaming tip sheet, which can help, and the only other thing that MAY work is to pay the cellular provider for a static IP address. In any case, we can't guarantee what NAT type you'll receive.

Can I connect an ethernet switch to the LAN port on the Peplink MAX BR1 Mini?

Yes, an ethernet switch can be connected to allow more wired connections.
