Pepwave Surf On-The-Go 3G/4G Router w/ WiFi as WAN (Surf OTG)
Version 2.0

[SUS-AGN1]

Pros: ~ Extremely easy to set up. Basically, if you can answer the choices in the setup page, you will be on-the-air in no time. All pertinent configuration details are on one page, and not on multiple pages like my previous device. ~ Supports WEP / WPA / WPA2 / 802.1x. Even though WEP has largely been dismissed by a good part of the community, it is good to have available for backward compatibility with 'older' hardware. This was important to me. ~ Detachable antenna. A big plus! ~ Multiple Profiles: Since we do a lot of traveling, having multiple profiles means that I don't have to constantly re-enter site-specific credentials each time we move. A big time saver! ~ Can be used either as a WiFi Bridge, Repeater, or Client. ~ LED indicators. Cons: ~ Does not support POE. The Pepwave must be located within reach of a power source, about 5or 6 feet. I'd sometimes like to be able to locate the Pepwave some distance away, in search of a better signal. Or, even mount it inside my 'Rootenna' antenna/enclosure outdoors. ~ 'Extended-range radio performance'. Nice Marketing Speak, but there are no specs on how many milliwatts (or, dBm) of power the radio is capable of, or how sensitive the receiver really is. Some actual 'numbers' for comparison purposes would be welcome. The typical operating range quoted doesn't infer anything to brag about. Perhaps I mis-read the details, though. In summary, despite the 'shortcomings' noted, it does a fine job for the price, and I'd gladly recommend it
