Here are some 'Frequently Asked Questions' (and the answers)
Question: How fast is EVDO?
Answer: That will depend on what kind of coverage is available
where you need it. Check the
Sprint
EVDO coverage map and see what's available where you want service. Make sure
to look at "Data" coverage (it defaults to voice). Orange is Sprint's
high speed EVDO service, and Green is their 1xRTT/NationalAccess service.
Average Speeds by type of Network:
1xRTT 50 ~ 100 kbps Download and Upload, bursts to 144 kbps
EVDO Rev-A 600 ~ 1400 kbps Download, bursts to 3 Mbps; 200 ~ 800 kbps Upload,
bursts to 1.8 Mbps
There are no guarantees regarding speeds by either carrier. Your speed
will vary depending on both the quality of signal you receive at your device
and the bandwidth/load at cell tower your device connects to.Average
Latency by type of Network:
1xRTT 300-900 ms
EVDO Rev-A 100-400ms
There are no guarantees regarding latency/lag by either carrier. Your
latency will vary depending on both the quality of signal you receive at
your device and the quality of network along the route your connection follows,
to destination server.
Question: Is Sprint EVDO "Unlimited"?
Answer: There is no limit to amount of data you can use per month,
but overage
charges take affect after first 5GB of data per billing month.
Question: Are there any other fees involved?
Answer: Sprint will charge a $36 activation fee if this is a
new account and $26 if adding a device to an existing account (activation fees appear on your first monthly bill). If you have
an existing corporate-liable account, the activation charge is waived on 2
year contracts. In addition to the monthly $59.99 fee, there will be varying
state and federal taxes, just as there are on your cell phone plan.
Question: Is there a "Free Trial Period"?
Answer: Sprint provides a 30 day trial for your EVDO service, but
it is not "Free". If you are not satisfied with Sprint EVDO service,
you can cancel within 30 days and not be subjected to their prorated
early termination fee. Activation fee (if any) will be refunded
by Sprint. You will not be refunded shipping charges. Sprint may also charge
you for a partial month of service.
Question: Does 3Gstore have a refund policy?
Answer: All items invoiced by 3Gstore.com such as amplifiers, repeaters,
antennas and routers, fall under our 14
day return policy
Question: I already have a Sprint account. Do I still need to
provide all my personal information?
Answer: No. However, you will need to provide the EXACT name on the
account (it is very important that you provide the correct name that is associated
with your account. Please double-check to ensure that your Sprint account isn't
under your maiden name, business name, etc), your Sprint mobile number and
and account number, as well as your PIN number or your security question and
answer so that we may add your new line of service.
Question: How do I establish and obtain a NEW Sprint account?
Answer: Please complete our online order form. The information you
supply is completely confidential and is required by Sprint to establish your
Sprint account. Please
double-check your order to ensure that you have filled out all of the necessary
fields; omitting information will delay your order. If you prefer, you can place your order over the phone
with one of our EVDO experts by calling 866-3GSTORE mon-fri 9am-7pm CST.
Question: Why do I need to provide my social security number?
Answer: Sprint requires a credit check when setting up a new personal
account. This is standard practice and all wireless providers
require this when creating a new service contract. Credit is run through Equifax. Should
you decide not to provide this information, Sprint may require a large deposit
to open your Sprint account, as there will not be any reference for past credit
history. Deposits depend on the customer’s credit history and generally
start at $100 per line which is typically returned by Sprint as a credit to
account after one year of good payment history. Please note that
omitting information can delay the processing of your order.
If you are setting up a business account you do NOT need to
enter your personal information (see below).
3Gstore values your privacy and ensures that your private information is never
shared with anyone but Sprint’s credit system. Our sites utilize advanced
security validation (EV SSL) and this
is just one of the many advantages to shopping at 3Gstore.com!
Question: What if I want to open a new Sprint business account?
Answer: In order to establish a Sprint business account, you
will need to provide your tax ID and complete all the business
information in the EVDO order form. You do not need
to provide your personal information (social security number, etc) for a business
account. Please note that it is not unusual for a new business to require a deposit.
Question: How does the Sprint deposit work?
Answer: If Sprint requests a deposit to set up your account,
3Gstore will contact you before moving forward. Once you approve the deposit, the credit card you provided at the time of your order will be charged the full
Sprint deposit amount. After one year of active service, you will receive
your full deposit back in the form of credit to your Sprint Account.
Question: Why do I need to create a 6-10 digit security PIN and
security question?
Answer: For your protection, Sprint requires you to establish
a 6-10 number digit PIN and security question/answer to be able to access your
Sprint account. Your PIN cannot contain more than 3 consecutive numbers
of a your social security number or tax ID number. Please write your PIN
and security answer down in a safe place as you may need it in the future when
contacting Sprint.
Question: How do I get my rebate?
Answer: All rebate forms and information will be included in the box when you receive your order, and you can also download the forms here. It is your responsibility to submit the appropriate rebate forms and information to Sprint.
Question: What if I subscribe to a fraud-protection service like
Life Lock?
Answer: If you have Life Lock, your order may be delayed due
to the extra verification that will take place. After your order is submitted
to Sprint credit, someone from Sprint’s credit department will call the
customer via the phone number that the customer provided to Life Lock. They
will ask a series of questions (e.g., what year did you get your Mastercard,
who is your car loan through, who is your home loan through, etc) to verify
your identity; once confirmed, we will be notified that we can move forward
with your order.
