3Gstore is a Peplink Certified PartnerFast Facts About This Product:

  • This router is best for: Businesses that rely upon internet connectivity & can't afford to have any downtime due to issues with their ISP. The Peplink Balance ensures connectivity by utilizing up to four internet sources (3 wired WAN & one 3G or 4G USB) so that even if two of the connections fail, you'll be able to remain connected.
  • Internet Connections Supported: 3 Wired WAN, 1 USB (view full compatibility chart)
  • WiFi Standard: No built-in WiFi. Add an access point (like the AP One Mini) if WiFi is needed.
  • WiFi Range: N/A
  • Ethernet ports: 4 GbE LAN + 3 WAN
  • Power Supply: AC Adapter included, DC adapter sold separately
  • Size: 1.38" x 10.2" x 5.24"

The Peplink Balance 30 allows you to load balance (aka "link controller") between three WAN connections (cable/DSL/T-1/satellite) for increasing internet bandwidth, reliability, uptime, and to reduce the cost of having expensive leased lines. It also supports a variety of 3G and 4G mobile broadband USB modems (view full compatibility chart). The user-friendly Web Admin and Reporting Service help you to manage your network easily and intuitively. With a complete and secured VPN solution and a built-in DNS server, the Peplink Balance is a great networking router for a variety of users!

The Peplink Balance 30 includes 5 advanced load balancing algorithms. Network traffic is distributed to different Internet links to achieve an overall increase of network speed. Simply add low-cost Internet links such as DSL, Cable to your existing network and loading websites will be much faster - everyone in the network will benefit! Using the outbound traffic manager, you can set up rules to route high volume traffic to your faster Internet links and optimize speed. DSL Optimization will help prioritize increasingly heavy traffic. Intelligent and Automatic Failover performs regular "health checks" to ensure up-to-date statuses, and if one of the links fails, Peplink Balance will automatically re-route traffic to a healthy link to provide continuous internet connectivity.

Tech Support and 24/7 Support Portal Access Included: Our expert tech support is included for free with your purchase. We love Peplink Balance 30

We are always testing the routers that we sell and support and currently we have been running the Peplink Balance 30 in a few locations and have been VERY happy with the features and performance. We currently have the Balance 30 installed as our main router at the warehouse. We also have a Balance 30 at a remote office and have the 2 locations tied together over the internet (called Site to Site VPN). Allows us to access server and printers from either location and allow virtual offices to tie in with our main warehouse.

We also love the instant failover feature that the Peplink Balance 30 provides. If our main cable goes down, it fails over to our mobile broadband instantly, we do not lose a packet and then it fails back. When this does happen, it can send out an email with the current IP Address (which is very handy).

The bandwidth monitoring is the best amongst mobile broadband routers. Not only can we see how much traffic was passed via WAN port, but you can also see a breakdown by user. All data is accumulated by day and month, so it is simple to see how much data you are actually using.

The Peplink router that I ordered from your store is working flawlessly for me!

This is an amazing piece of equipment that actually does what it says. I had it set up in 30 minutes and after learning the workflow of it's interface, find it very intuitive. We have two dsl lines and a wifi antenna and it really does failover when one goes down. Years ago, this would have been $1000! I am very thankful that such a great piece of equipment is affordable.

Update to my 10/12/2011 review. I have been using this router with WAN 1 on DSL, WAN 2 on cable modem, and WAN 3 on a USB 3G U720 for almost nine months routing both VPN and non-VPN traffic from direct connected as well as Linksys WRT160N and Cisco 891 (VPN) uplinked routers. It has performed flawlessly on all fail-over functions and I have never had to reboot it even once. Event reporting shows clearly when it failed over between WAN connections. Great product.

works like a champ.

It just works out of the box. The UI is simple and easy to understand. This was probably one of my better networking decisions. I have bought routers from Netgear/Linksys before and while they are good they all have some rough edges.

Bought the Balance 30 for my small office after some thorough technical research and with high expectations. Unfortunately, after extensive configuring and testing including with PepLink tech support, it was impossible to configure to meet my needs.

I faced several performance issues with the router but the "show stopper" was that it could not be configured to successfully implement PPTP pass-through to support my VPN needs. That capability is clearly adverstised as being supported by the Balance 30, in fact Peplink even offers a brief app note on the function. Problem is, it just dowsn't work, and after days and days working with Peplink, the couldn't make it work either. I chose to "cut my losses" and not waste more valuable time on this device and to return it to 3GStore where I purchased.

I was then further disappointed by 3GStore's return process. After detailed discussions with their rep about my technical problems with the Balance 30 including providing access to the support exchanges with Peplink, 3GStore decided they would charge me a 20% restocking fee on my return. I argued that the device did not perform as advertised and that's the cause for return which is through no fault of mine. They insisted on imposing the fee.

Fine, I suppose if 3GStore needs my $75 that bad, they should keep. Needless to say, this was the first and last time I'll do business with 3GStore. ...Buyer beware!

3Gstore Comments:
Hello, in looking at your order history, it looks like you refused to work with Peplink after they were willing to work with you more to get this working. Also, when you returned your item you for a refund, many of the items including in the box were not returned to us. Your credit was issued 3 business days after we received your router. On a side note, we were experiencing a similar condition with a Balance 30 we use at, unable to access a PPTP server within our local network. After working with Peplink, we found that another computer within our local network was requesting the same port via UPnp and that was the reason why things didn't work.

This router was easy to configure and does exactly what it says it will do. I have tested it using both DSL WAN and 3G modems on the USB interface and fail-over in both directions works flawlessly. The firmware upgrade was a nice surprise in that it added excellent real-time statistics reporting. I have used this router both in front of and behind another VPN router using DHCP without issues. I did have an unresolved problem getting a Linksys WRT160N router behind it working in a double-NAT configuration but had no problems getting a Cisco 891 router to operate the same way, so I must have done something wrong with the Linksys unit. I also was able to configure port-forwarding using a Slingbox that worked well to work around the problem that the Slingbox uses the same default IP address as the DSL modem. One minor inconvenience I had with this router is that the automated configuration utility for the Slingbox has a list of popular routers that it supports of which this less-popular Peplink unit is not included, so manual configuration was necessary and this is probably true of many other manufacturers who supply router configuration information for their products only for more popular routers. Finally, I should mention that I have not yet tried to use the load-balancing feature on this router as I have not yet installed the cable modem for 3-way WAN. It also worked well using a Netgear 3G router with a U720 card plugged into the WAN2 port instead of the on-board USB port. My final configuration is multiple switches and access points plugged into the LAN ports on this router as well as a single VPN router uplinked into it. All in all I am very happy that this router does exactly what it is supposed to do at a good price, has been rock-solid stable, has excellent administrative and surprisingly good reporting tools.

I have owned 3 different CradlePoint routers over the last 3 years and they worked pretty well. However, I am IN LOVE with the Peplink Balance 30. It does so many things that the CradlePoint doesn't do and that I need: instant load balancing, bandwidth monitor/tracking/notification and shutting down if I get close to my bandwidth limits. This is an enterprise quality router for a fairly low price (for what it does). A great router, if you have a 3G/4G card or not. I also picked up a Peplink Surf Mini, so I can have a 3rd failover to WiFi, and use the hotspot on my iPhone to keep my whole network up - very cool. Would give 10 stars if I could
