The Drive 4G-X includes a 4" magnetic mount antenna and no additional parts are required. If you prefer, you can replace that antenna with a different one - for example, if you want to mount a taller antenna to the exterior of your home or RV, or if you don't want to have to worry about having a magnetic surface to mount the included antenna. The alternative antennas you can select from this menu include any necessary cables and/or adapters you'll need to connect it to the amplifier.
Add a different antenna (optional) - details

The 4G-X is similar to the 4G-M, but has superior ability to pick up the signal from distant towers

Fast Facts about this Product:

  • This repeater kit is best for: Users who need to provide in-vehicle amplified cellular signal to 2 to 3 cellular modems or phones in close proximity to the included "candy bar" antenna.
  • Coverage area*: 3-10' (e.g. front seat area of a vehicle)
  • All-in-One Kit? YES
  • Compatibility: This amplifier supports 700mhz/800mhz/1700mhz/1900mhz/2100mhz networks (which includes most 2G, 3G, and 4G providers in the US). Supported carriers/networks include:
    • Verizon 2G/3G/4G/AWS
    • Sprint 2G/3G (gain is minimal for Sprint 4G LTE, and only on the 1900mhz band. This amplifier does not support Sprint's 2500mhz LTE band)
    • AT&T 2G/3G/4G/LTE
    • US Cellular 2G/3G/4G
    • T-Mobile 2G/3G/4G
    • MetroPCS 2G/3G/4G
    • For other carriers, confirm which frequency your provider is using and make sure this amplifier supports it before purchasing! Contact us if you need any assistance.

IMPORTANT SIGNAL INFORMATION: If you're purchasing an amplifier for use at one specific location, we strongly recommend doing a site survey first to determine whether the amplifier will help you and to give you an idea of what kind of results you can expect from it.

If your signal is extremely poor (-108db or worse), an amplifier may not be effective - there must be some usable signal available for the amplifier to boost. Conversely, if the signal is too STRONG at your location (-50db or better), the amplifier may shut down to avoid interference with the tower.

Hills, trees, and distance from the signal source all affect call quality—not to mention streaming services and other apps. The weBoost Drive 4G-X is your answer to all those times you’ve lost connection on the road. It offers stronger cellular connections by operating with the maximum output power allowed under current FCC regulations, extending your service range up to 60 percent farther than other boosters on the market. Drive 4G-X substantially improves your cellular signal strength on all cellular-connected devices in your vehicle—including smartphones, tablets and laptops.

How it works: The outside antenna picks up the cellular signal and sends it to the amplifier. The signal is then boosted and sent out through the low-profile interior antenna, which rebroadcasts the boosted signal. All of your modems/phones within range of the inside antenna can benefit from the boosted signal wirelessly.

*Many factors will influence the actual coverage area you will see from a repeater, including layout/floorplan, construction, and original un-amplified signal strength. Depending on your situation, you may see more or less coverage than the estimates listed here. It is not possible to guarantee coverage area.

Installation notes:

  • In order for your system to function properly, you must maintain adequate separation between the outside and inside antennas (if the antennas are too close together, there will be oscillation/feedback between the antennas and the amplifier will shut down). This amplifier requires approximately 5' of separation between the outside and inside antennas. Separation can be horizontal or vertical.
  • The magnetic mount antenna MUST be connected to something magnetic or it will not work! If you're using the amplifier in a car/truck, you can simply stick it on the roof of the vehicle. A suction cup window mount, which provides a magnetic base for the antenna, is available (sold separately) for indoor use.
  • The inside antenna should be mounted within a couple of feet of where boosted signal is needed. In a typical vehicle, the best place to mount the inside antenna is shoulder height on the side of the drivers seat. Remember, the closer your phone is to the interior antenna, the better the performance.
  • Do not mount the interior antenna within 4" of metal.
  • You CANNOT use a traditional adapter cable that plugs directly into an antenna port on a phone/modem with this amplifier - doing so will damage your device! If you want a direct connect amplifier, see our direct connect options

We live in the country and only have our Verizon unlimited plan for streaming servces. When we installed this it went from night to say with service capacity. The pricing was awesome and they also kept a store credit for a year for us. Thanks again.

So far so good. Easy to install on Grand Cherokee: unit under back seat, antenna run in via tailgate. Will get a real test on our next remote trip.

This device is considerably more complicated to install in an RV than one is led to believe. We purchased the unit, along with an omnidirectional Laird Phantom external antenna. After installing the Laird on a metal base plate on the top of our RV and connecting the WeBoost amplifier, we have yet to be able to get 4 green lights to display on the unit, which tells you that it is operating at its maximum efficiency. Apparently, any red lights (we've always had at least one, more often two, and at times three and even FOUR) indicates signal interference. We've tried different types of interior antennas, driven to multiple locations and even tried increasing the distance between the interior and exterior antenna. I even tried installing some sheet metal shielding over the front cabinetry bank where we installed the amplifier to try to "block" any possible interference between the two antennas, but nothing has really helped. Finally, we tried just putting the unit in our car, using the little magnetic exterior antenna and the "candy bar" interior one and drove around to see if those worked better. They didn't.

All of that said, I have seen a boost in signal strength when the amplifier is turned on, according to an app we use on my cell phone. The WeBoost engineers told me that we have always been in areas where the signal strength is already moderately strong, and that the unit is not designed to take a good signal and make it even fact, that just invites signal oscillation. According to them, it will operate most efficiently in an area where the db signal strength is fairly week, turning it into one that is at least usable. We'll see. The jury is still out on this pretty expensive technology.

I drive an RV and am often in remote locations with very little to no cell reception. This unit has indeed improved my cell reception to a useable range in places I had almost none and vastly improved my data speeds when I use my phone tethered to my computer. I did change to a different indoor antenna, Wilson #311135 so I can get interior reception from a great distance (was 3 feet but now almost 10 feet).
